Customer Connection: TANtalizing Tanning and Spray Tans
The Myrtle Beach area is a well-known vacation destination on the Grand Strand, a 60-mile string of beaches on South Carolina’s Atlantic coast. With that much beach, exquisite golf courses, and a boardwalk adorned with arcades, restaurants and one of the country’s tallest Ferris wheels, it’s no surprise that tourists are spending most of their time having fun in the sun. That might seem like a deterrent for indoor tanning businesses, but Nikki Capps, owner of TANtalizing Tan, has found great success since buying her first location 7 years ago. TANtalizing Tan is now at three different locations in Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet and Carolina Forest, and with a different clientele at each, Nikki and her team have managed to effectively and uniquely cater to them all.
Q: How did you find out about ProSun beds?
A: The woman I purchased the salon from only owned it for 8 months, but she had put ProSun beds in here. She heard about them from another salon owner, did her research, and said she felt they were the Mercedes of tanning beds. When we got the second location, they had ProSun beds in them already as well. Our third salon had another brand’s beds and it’s been rough with them, honestly. I’ve since purchased a new ProSun stand up bed for that location and even some used ProSun beds. But everyone has only given great reviews since replacing our old beds.

Q: What appealed to you most about our product?
A: I’ve had people try to convince me to switch to other beds but I love ProSun’s low replacement costs. I’m not scared that I’m going to have a hunk of metal sitting in a room and not be able to use it. I’ve had wires go black in other beds, but I’ve never had anything scary happen in a ProSun bed. ProSun beds are also very easy to work on. I have never talked to another salon owner that can work on the beds themselves. Our first beds are 8 years old, and we’ve had a couple of things we’ve had to fix, but the fans still run great and they’re so easy to keep clean.
Q: Were there any obstacles or concerns you had prior to purchasing our equipment?
A: Well, really every time I purchase new equipment the costs can be scary. I don’t do as much in sales at some locations, so it’s always a concern if I’m going to get my money out of it. But when I factor in the amount of time that I or an employee spends fixing an older, non-ProSun bed, that really matters too, not just how many packages I sell.
Q: Did you encounter any issues during the order or delivery of your equipment?
A: Nope. The guy who delivered the bed was really great.
Q: How has this product benefit you and/or your business?
A: I don’t stress about replacement costs.
Q: What specific features do you and/or your customer like most about this product?
A: The music that they can hook up themselves. How comfortable the acrylics are and how easy it is to get in and out of the beds, because we do have some older clientele. And the stand up we got, people just rave and rave about it, it’s very powerful and the fan works really well. They look beautiful, and everyone loves that the higher end beds talk to you.
Q: Would you recommend our products and services to other businesses?
A: Yes I would, and I have. I just think for anyone looking to start a salon or upgrade their beds they should really give ProSun a serious look. In the long term they are so much more user friendly and they’re very classic looking.
